Learning Objectives: The iOS Development Sequence
01 Context
Objectives first, curriculum second
These objectives were written into the iOS program design in December 2025, before the 2026 curriculum rebuild, and every activity, assignment, and starter project built since maps back to them. The sequence follows a deliberate scaffolding arc: heavy scaffolding in iOS 1 (confidence building, starter projects with most structure in place), decreasing through iOS 2 and 3, to minimal scaffolding in iOS 4, where students deliver a self-directed portfolio project measured against milestones they defined themselves.
02 Per-course objectives
What students can do at the end of each course
03 In the catalog voice
Official iOS 1 outcomes, live in front of students
The catalog-style outcome set for iOS 1, published on the student-facing Class Overview page:
- Create responsive user interfaces utilizing the iOS software development kit
- Demonstrate synthesis of core iOS programming concepts
- Create functional user interface components that adhere to the Human Interface Guidelines
- Apply basic accessibility principles to iOS applications
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively use basic debugging techniques
